2026 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TRIALS | REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN
Registrations are now open for athletes wishing to trial for the East Perth Eagles 2026 BWA State Championship teams!
State Championship Trials provide athletes with the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities as part of the selection process for the upcoming Basketball WA State Championships.
Throughout the trial process, players will be assessed by the Club’s Coaching Panel, with consideration given to each athlete’s overall performance, including basketball ability, decision-making, physical capabilities, competitiveness, coachability and contribution to the team environment. Following the completion of trials, team selections will be reviewed and formally endorsed by the Club.
Players selected to represent the East Perth Eagles at the 2026 BWA State Championships will then be eligible to participate in the Club’s 2027 WABL Trials, which will be held following the State Championships.
Participation in the State Championships does not guarantee selection in a WABL team. However, players wishing to be considered for a 2027 WABL playing position must participate in the 2026 BWA State Championships as part of the East Perth Eagles WABL selection pathway.
TRIAL SCHEDULE
Please review the published trial schedule carefully, as trial dates, times and requirements vary across age groups. Players and families are responsible for ensuring they attend the correct session/s for their age group.
REGISTRATION
All athletes must register prior to attending trials. Please complete your registration via the link provided below by 8:00pm Sunday 13th September.

Please note that due to the number of athletes participating in the trial process, individual player feedback will not be provided following trials.

ABSENCES AT TRIALS
To ensure fairness and transparency throughout the team selection process, please carefully review the following attendance requirements.
NEW PLAYERS TO EAST PERTH
All players who are new to East Perth must attend Trial 1 to be considered for selection.
There are no exemptions from Trial 1 for new players, regardless of the reason for absence. As our selectors have no previous experience assessing these players within the East Perth program, attendance at the first trial is required to provide a fair and appropriate opportunity for assessment.
Players new to the club who are unable to attend Session 1 will not be eligible for selection.
RETURNING EAST PERTH PLAYERS
Players who are absent from one or both returning player sessions without an approved exemption will not be considered for team selection.
There will be no additional or make-up try-outs for players unable to attend the scheduled trial dates.
Returning players who miss one or more sessions with an approved exemption are not automatically excluded from selection; however, their absence may impact their opportunity for assessment and subsequent team placement.
EXEMPTIONS – RETURNING PLAYERS ONLY
Exemptions may be considered for returning East Perth players for the following reasons:
- Pre-planned and pre-booked overseas or interstate family travel
- State basketball trials or training commitments
- Injury or illness
Where an exemption is approved, selectors will assess the player based solely on their previous experience with and knowledge of the player's skills and ability, together with any assessment opportunities available during the sessions the player attends.
The Selection Panel will make every effort to assess exempted players fairly based on the information available; however, an approved exemption does not guarantee selection or placement in any particular team.
All exemption requests will be reviewed and either approved or declined by EPBDA following submission. EPBDA may, at its discretion, request supporting documentation such as a medical certificate or proof of travel.
